This is a very personal account of the late side effects of breast cancer treatment- LYMPHOEDEMA.
More education is needed on survivorship after a cancer diagnosis. Patients are experiencing problems or symptoms that they were never educated about and when they appear it can be a very difficult time as they can automatically think that it is their cancer recurring when its actually a late side effect of their successful treatment. MOre medical awareness is needed about issues such as lymphoedema or lymphies as patients who have lymphoedema like to be known as. Treatments such as Manual Lymph Drainage or MLD along with compression bandages or compression garments can alleviate the symptoms and allow patients to manage their symptoms or problems.
