The Summer Health and Wellbeing Festival was held on Clayton Whites Hotel Wexford on the 6th of June 2018 it was run by the Active Retirement Ireland- South East Branch.

 

Active Retirement Ireland Mission

“Active Retirement Ireland will reach out to all older people to stop loneliness through friendship and support” – Mission Statement, Active Retirement Ireland Strategic Plan.

Active Retirement Ireland (ARI) is a voluntary organisation for older people with a national membership of over 24,500 people and over 550 local associations. Members range in age from 50 -100+ years and cover a range of socio-economic backgrounds. As an organisation, ARI believes that all older people are equal and are entitled to be treated with respect. Older people all have different interests and needs, which ARI aims to identify and fulfil.

The organisation is run by voluntary committees at local, regional and national level (Active retirement, 2018).

Events on the day

Active Retired Ireland (South East Region) had a jam-packed programme of demonstrations and talks at the new-look Summer Health & Wellbeing Festival.

The activities on the day included a talk on General Health & Fitness, Make up Demonstration  Craobh Loch Garman Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann,  Line Dancing, BBQ Demonstration, Fashion Show by Shaws Wexford and Wexford Folk Orchestra.

Wellbeing Techniques

We spoke to many different very active people who attended the event and it was great to hear their stories about how much they get from this group.

Wellbeing Techniques was on hand to give advice about lymph drainage and its many uses. These include treatment for swollen legs and ankles, inflammation, fluid retention, pain, wound healing, fatigue,  sinusitis, fibromyalgia and general wellbeing.
